Having gotten tired of the lack of customization available with the blog, I’m moving. Where to?

Now, you may be questioning why I went to a hosted site rather than just paying for better WordPress stuff. The answer? Because my hosting and domain name registration is free for 2 years, thanks to a dinky little geocities account I used to have.

Geocities is going out of business. DreamHost is therefore giving the first 1000 people who put the words “I’m off to DreamHost!” on their existing Geocities site 2 free years of domain name registration and site hosting with unlimited file storage and bandwidth. Yeah… I couldn’t say no. (Find more info here at the bottom of the page.)

So, I’m moving. And, while I’m at it, I may build up the rest of the site into something. I’m sorely tempted to do an H!P scandal/bash wiki. That way, everyone who comes to my site to find out about “fat risako stomach” and “arihara kanna and johnny’s guy” will actually find what they’re looking for.

All new posts will be at the new blog starting… soon. I have an idea for my next big post, but it’ll take a bit of time in order to get it all together. ^_^

Well, here we are… just over 7.5 months since I started this blog (with gaps in release here and there and everywhere), and I finally hit my first big “milestone” by passing 5000 hits. So, I figured I’d do a rundown of some stuff on my blog. ^_^

First off, thank you to International Wota for pimping out like half of my posts, without which I’d probably have given up a while ago because as much as this blog is “for me”, there’s really no fun in writing something that no one will read.

Thanks, too, to the people who have blogrolled me or otherwise linked on over.

This actually also marks my 40th post (yeah… I should probably post more, but I don’t tend to post strict news or that many reviews, so…), and it’s interesting to see which posts have had the most hits. At the top of the list is Let’s Talk About Sex, my look into Kago’s newest photobook and why people were reacting the way they were. Next is my Alo-Hello!3 post, which is understandable. But third on the list is H!P Blogs, Eating Disorders, and Hamtaro, which seems a little strange. Yes, it got put up on IW, but it’s such a strange post… Perhaps I should investigate further?

Ah, and there we go. Looking into the search terms that led to my blog, it’s easy to see why the Kago post is do high on the list. Number one? “Bondage”. All because of that one little picture where she was tied up! Number two? “Wet”. So, okay, this probably led to a lot of the Alo-Hello!3 posts, as did numbers three and four, “junjun” and “alo hello 3”. Four, five and six are “kago ai adultism”, “adultism” and “kago ai”. This is followed by “junjun musume”, and then by the inexplicable “genki sex”. Seriously? Sex that is both sex *and* genki? Should I feel honored? Also pretty far up on the list (as I start to skip past some of the boring ones) is “fat lady”. Um… okay… “Naked with bed” is another. “Super lady”, “fat stomach”, “boobs1”, “sakura bondage”, “”thighs”” (yes, in quotations), and “half nude wet girls” all got more than a handful of hits. What’s really hilarious are the ones that only got a hit of two, but still managed to lead to *MY* blog… “day after tomorrow hello, every”… “hot babes show their boobs nakedly”… “the ºc-ute fanged one”… “cute eating banana”… “chicken momo vector”… “naked girls peeing in a cup”… “pant hagiwara mai”… “”up yours” grandma”… “sex mongolian”… “girl’s mirror image reaches through to g”… and this is without looking up some of the particularly strange ones. I remember seeing a few about members of H!P licking each others fat… one about Risako’s pants ripping… not the mention about Nakki being a cannibal. I recall one about “babies stuck in nakajima saki’s teeth” or something like that. It was all rather ridiculous.

So, yeah… one of my goals this year was to post more interesting content, more often. I don’t know if I’ve done it yet or not, but I’m trying. Although, if there’s anything you guys want to see me rant about, just say it. I don’t keep my opinions to myself very well.

To commemorate this special occasion, here’s a PV for you to watch: Rie Fu’s “5000 Miles”. It is epic in its strangeness, perhaps quite like me. ^_^

I recently posted about Kago’s new line of “adult” photos that people have been harping about. I’ve been thinking about it more lately, though, and I’ve tried to figure out how Kago’s image changed so rapidly, and why. It’s one thing to say that she’s just doing it because H!P kept her in the same idol mold for too long, and quite another to display it in such a way that is is a believable conclusion. Then, I discovered what made the most sense to me about how she became like this:
Some of you may be anime fans. Maybe you’ve heard of Satoshi Kon? He’s directed a lot of great things: Paranoia Agent, Paprika, Tokyo Godfathers, etc. But the first of them all… was Perfect Blue. It follows the story of Mima Kirigoe as she transitions from part of the idol group CHAM into an actress. Already sounding familiar?

Now, there are important differences to note between “Aibon”‘s life, and that of “Mimarin” in an animated feature. Perfect Blue is a psychological thriller, to start with. There are serial murders happening around Mima involving people key to the change in her image. In a way, she’s kind of going crazy as her life starts to drastically change. Last I checked, not so with Aibon.
The thing that made me find the parallel here, though, is a certain scene. The two girls leftover in CHAM start anew and are backstage talking before an appearance. They reveal that Mima is about to do a photoshoot with a photographer who’s well-known for getting girls to take it all off. Mima does indeed do so, and doesn’t outwardly show any signs of disliking it. It isn’t until later that we see her disgust.
Mima’s first dorama is actually something of a bit part in a drama as a dead character’s sister in a murder mystery drama, only her part evolves to something bigger as her manager promises that she’ll do just about anything, and that it doesn’t matter because she’s graduated from being a pop idol. This gives her a much larger part, but it culminates with a rape scene. Her second manager doesn’t think this is a good idea, but Mima agrees to go along with it anyway.scantily
The pertinent line that Mima screams as she’s tearing apart her small apartment and throwing herself on her bed is this: “Of course I didn’t want to do it! But I couldn’t trouble all the people who brought me this far!”
Is this what is happening with Kago? Someone (her manager?) brought up the idea of the photobook to her, but it’s someone who helped her get back to where she is now so that she felt she couldn’t say no? It makes sense. Kago does look uncomfortable in a lot of her new pics. I argued that she probably wouldn’t have done them if she hadn’t wanted to, but that doesn’t mean that it was her preference.
Kago is finally making a name for herself, post-H!P, post-scandal, post-childhood, etc. FRIDAY is even talking about her again, trying to claim she’s in some big illicit relationship again. Only, this time? Kago’s management is denying it, and Kago wouldn’t even be “in trouble” if it was true this time. She’s 20… old enough to be allowed to make her own decisions. We, as fans, can only hope she’s making the best ones she can. After what she’s been though and seen, though, I think she will. I have confidence that this Kago will be the Kago that people will truly love forever.
There are several other lines from Perfect Blue that relate here, and one in particular comes to mind in light of this. Mima, in a scene that blurs between her role in the drama and her reality, says “I’m a pop idol! No… I’m an actress. That’s right… I’m an actress.”

Kago had no plans in the beginning to get back into singing. She was strictly going to be an actress. Now, she’s writing her own music that will start to drop in a few months (something I’m eagerly awaiting). She’s heading back to being an idol, but with a better head on her shoulders, and stronger hands to hold her up if she starts to fall. Yet, she’s not giving up acting in the slightest. It’s kind of wonderful, though to be true, I’m finding that while I like her acting, it doesn’t grab me like when she sings. I’ll keep watching though, because it’s still enough, or at least is for now.
Kago has changed a lot since her debut way back when. I sometimes wonder if she looks in the mirror and fails to see that part of herself that was with her for her H!P years. To quote a last line from Mima… her first lines in her first drama were “Excuse me… who are you?”, and it’s a phrase that is repeated quite often throughout the movie. I wonder if getting back into singing is Kago’s way of reclaiming that part of her life she feels was taken away.

Regardless, I wish her luck, and look forward to seeing the future with Kago in it.

I don’t know how many of you are following along with all of the H!P blogs out there (I’m following all of the ones I can find translated, at least), but Yaguchi Mari announced in her blog a few days ago that… she’ll finally be releasing a solo single! In March! After 4 years of everyone waiting to see if she would! And being pretty sure that if it hadn’t happened yet, well, it just wouldn’t!

Okay. Enough of the !’s.

This is very exciting to me, especially since Yaguchi did a bit on Yaguchi Hitori (one of her several shows) for her birthday which involved singing to the tune of ABBA songs from Mamma Mia! and you know? She sounds great. Almost all of the aspects of her voice that made her sound like a little girl are gone, with just a hint left to remind you that it is Yaguchi Mari and it is awesome.

I, for one, am sooooooo excited. I love Yaguchi. She is wayyyy up on the list of my favorite girls from H!P. I’ll even go ahead and say that she’s above both Captain and Junjun. Maybe even #1! *glomps Yaguchi and doesn’t let go* I just wish it were a little easier to follow all of the stuff that she does.

In other news, PVs for Morning Musume’s “Nai Chau Kamo” and Goto Maki’s “Fly Away” are out. The brief analysis is that both are good, but I actually like Morning Musume’s better. O_O

Now, some further analysis. “Nai Chau Kamo” is a pretty typical Morning Musume video, especially of late. This is the formula that H!P keeps using for them: take a dance shot, make it dark, add some close-ups, and maybe something else that isn’t too different from either of the other things. Other people have called this PV a mix of “As For One Day” and “Iroppoi Jirettai” and boy are they right. Yet, I love both of those, so I’m not complaining. Everyone looks absolutely gorgeous, even Aika and Linlin who I am not fond of in the slightest. Reina looks like a 3 year-old when she’s “crying”, but whatever. Junjun is FIERCE in the dance shot. She’s popping and locking like there’s no tomorrow.

Also, I’m lame and counted how many shots each member of 8th gen got. I did not keep these numbers around, though, but suffice it to say that Junjun came in first, followed by Aika, and trailed by Linlin. Additionally, most of Junjun’s shots are of her. She’s the focus on the shot, whether it’s the dance or the rain shots. Most of Aika and Linlin’s shots come where you see them in the background behind other people. Aika tends to be behind Takahashi in a lot of bits of the dance for this song, so that’s the only reason she’s in it a lot (but still not as much as Junjun).

It does make me happy to see Junjun get embraced even more. You could drop Aika and Linlin from MoMusu for me, and I think the elements that work would be the same. Graduate them and make them a duo for all I care. >_<

For Maki’s PV… well, it’s really not that much different from the standard MoMusu formula, is it? Granted, it’s pretty. Maki looks stunning in every shot. The dance is interesting. Her voice doesn’t sound particularly improved though, but I thought it was good in the first place. I’m not as impressed as I feel I could be, or even should be. I want avex to do better by her, but I guess I can see using this as a trial just to see how people will respond to the ex-H!P image.

Lastly, damn you cute Japanese girls and your nail art. My nails, for whatever reason, have gotten stronger and are growing out, meaning they’re currently long enough for nail art. I only have like 4 colors of nail polish at the moment, but I do have rhinestones and silver glitter, so I’m getting by. Yesterday, I had platinum polish on that I’d dipped into glitter (yes, all over) and topped with several coats of clear polish. But, that chipped, so I took it off and am working on a new design right now. I did a platinum base again, but now I’m using a tiny brush to draw the kanji character for love on my thumbs, and I’m putting CLAMP-style wings on each of the other fingers with a rhinestone at the base of each one. It is love. And I’m probably just getting high off the fumes. ^_^

I suppose I should also touch on Q.E.D. episode 2. I finally got around to watching it. It’s still interesting, and I thought this episode was better acted by everyone. Certain things aren’t made as obvious as they should be along the way, but it’s all stuff you figure out by the end. I’m wondering if I should track down the manga to read just to know everyone’s backstory a bit better. Eh. We’ll see.

I was just glancing over a list of H!P birthdays and realized that the H!P girl closest to my age is… Yaguchi Mari! But, she’s still almost 9 months older. I was probably conceived when she was born since I was born about 2 1/2 weeks early.

No H!P girls share my birthday, but a few days before is a shared H!P birthday: Maeda Yuki and Lightbulb (of Ice Creamusume). One extremely talented, one extremely charismatic. And the next birthday to occur after mine? Takahashi Ai. There’s no denying her talent. Her charisma is another story, though I think she has it.  For anyone wondering, though I know you probably really don’t care, I share a birthday with the first day of every Hogwarts year.

In other complete and utter randomness (though still H!P related because I’m really *that* lame)… wow, Junjun.

Just... wow.

Just... wow.

Hilariously, if you actually look closely at that picture, you’ll realize that her hands are at funny angles and she’s got some wonky eye going on just because of where she’s looking compared to how she’s holding her head, and those heels really do nothing for her… but at first glance? How the hell can H!P justify putting her in sack dresses?! That girl is the definition of both cute, *and* yowza, and I shouldn’t have to tell you that.

To finish things off, a bit of Captain picspam, just because I really like these pictures.

Oh, hey guys!

Oh, hey guys!

They’re finally letting Captain have hair that someone can do something with! Additionally, I think her clenched fist in the latter picture is among the most adorable things ever.

Oh, hell… let’s put up pics of the girls I mentioned in the birthday part… just because. I still have 3 gigs of space to fill up here at WordPress.

The first time I saw this, I thought that was a hand on her ponytail.

The first time I saw this, I thought that was a hand on her ponytail.

She's... kind of scary-looking, isn't she?

She's... kind of scary-looking, isn't she?

She switches on and off!

She switches on and off!

"How is this not charming?", I ask!

"How is this not charming?", I ask!

Hilariously, I think Lightbulb is the first H!P member with obviously puffy under-eyes that I actually like… Ayaya, Mikitty… Never my favorites. If it weren’t for Melodies and girl-kissing, I probably wouldn’t have liked GAM. Yes, I’m shallow. Deal. : p

I figured I’d go ahead and blog about this because I’m bored. :p

Online singing cover groups! What the hell, right?

At least, that’s what I thought. I’d see groupdubs on YouTube while looking for other things and be kind of annoyed by them, actually, but as a member of the gimme_hp group on livejournal, people occasionally shared songs from a particular group called “Sekai no Melody”. You can find SnM here.

I was having a serious karaoke jonesin’ one day and someone posted several SnM files as “bribes” to get an mp3 they wanted. I followed their links, and next thing I know? I’m auditioning. O_O The audition process isn’t really so much an audition as it is “Show the leader your voice type so she knows which group to put you with”. (I got placed in Paratoile.) You don’t have to have a great voice, or even a great microphone. You just have to like to sing, and like J-pop (and possibly K-pop and C-pop and the occasional English song).

There’s several hundred girls signed up for this thing, but it’s really just a few dozen who do most of the stuff. I’m quickly becoming one of them. I’m mixing, color-coding lyrics, making graphics, and singing my lungs out. I used to use that time to write fanfiction. ^_~ Not that I don’t still, but maybe just less time?

I can’t guarantee that everything that comes out from cover singing groups is going to be beautiful. But, it’s all done with sincere appreciation of the music in mind, so give us a listen!

I will probably link to these guys every now and again as we release things that are near and dear to me (namely, things I worked hard on and want people to at least try to appreciate). And if you don’t like it? Um, skip that paragraph?

That is all. ^_^
